Tilda Swintson and Interwar Italian Chic (INSPIRATION)

A choice of DVD reminded us of just how design and style through the ages is an endless source of inspiration.

Tilda Swinton in “I am Love” is lesson in miraculous transformations. Her cold androgyny is morphed into the epitome of European cool (a nod to Antonella Cannarozzi, Jill Sanders and Fendi http://fashionetc.com/fashion/influencers/807-antonella-cannarozzi-i-am-love-oscars-2011).

The film is quite intense and maybe not a good idea for a first date.

However the real star is the art direction (another nod to Francesca Di Mottola). Stunning interwar Milanese interiors will make you look around your house and go “hmmm – I think we need to raise the ceilings, timber panel everything and get some Charlie and Ray Eames designed double doors, and I don’t care if we have a workman’s cottage in Richmond”. We won’t say much more about it rather than insert some inspiration.
